MARY ISOBEL ROBERTS (nee TURPIN) On Saturday, December 18, 2004, Isobel passed away at the age of 92 years. She is survived by son Frank (Diane); grandchildren, David and Anne Marie; sister Kay Bartholomew; brothers, Tom Turpin (Elaine) and Arthur Turpin (Lorna); nieces, Joan Bloxom, Diane Spalding (Jack), Sandra Robins (Gary), Gail Roberts (Carl), Brenda Boucher (Don), Nancy Putz (Jim) and their families. Isobel was predeceased by her husband Frank in May 2000. Isobel, as she was known, was born October 16, 1912. She lived her life in the St. James area, never far from St. James Anglican Church. Isobel served as Sargeant in the Canadian Air Force, based during the Second World War in Ottawa. She went on to a career as legal secretary in the offices of Chapman Chapman, then on to various departments in the federal government. It was in her character to strive for excellence in everything she undertook. Mom married Dad in 1948, and they were married for 52 years. Their only son Frank was born the year following. She was a loving and devoted mother and had a very generous nature. Mom cared deeply for her family. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and cherished the times spent with her brothers and sister. Their bonds remained strong even when separated by distance. Mom loved choral singing. Isobel sang soprano in the Oriana singers of Winnipeg and retained a passion for music throughout her life. She was an avid knitter and expressed her love through the sweaters and wonderful things she would knit for her family. Isobel also enjoyed lawn bowling with the St. James Lawn Bowling Club, and competed in Western Canadian championships. She appreciated the continuing fellowship of their annual events. Isobel lived in her apartment until her 90th birthday. She enjoyed her many friends and was a keen bridge player. For the past two years she has lived at Kiwanis Courts. A Celebration of Isobel's Life will be held on Thursday, December 23 at 10:00 a.m. in St. James Anglican Church, 195 Collegiate St., with Rev. Fletcher Stewart officiating. Our family is grateful for the support of the Kiwanis Courts staff and especially home care workers, Kelly, Linda, Pam, and Chrystal who brightened her days with their loving care. Also, a special thanks to the staff of Grace General Hospital, 3 South. In lieu of flowers, donations in Isobel's memory may be made to the handicapped accessibility fund of St. James Anglican Church. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
