Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRONISLAWA (BERNICE) SLOTA September 17, 1908 - December 19, 2004 Peacefully, at the age of 96, Bernice Slota passed away with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her first husband Anthony Bacal. She was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada. At a Christmas party in 1961, Bernice met John Slota through his work, and his brothers-in-law to be. They were meant for each other. They were married in October, 1962 and remained together through good times and bad. She truly looked after John, cooking for him, patting his bald head, and looking after their farm and home. A very special thank-you goes out to her for this. Her Christmas and Easter were always extra special. John's passing in 1980 took a heavy toll on Bernice's heart. Bernice was also predeceased by step-daughter Madeline Smith; step-son Michael Slota; brother Stanley Surowy; brother Kasmier Surowy (wife Rose); sister Rose Kwiatek (husband Karl); sister Jadwiga Nedielsky; sister-in-law Frances Surowy. Bernice leaves to mourn son James Peter Slota (wife Jeanne). She also leaves to mourn her sister Mary Cwik (husband Frank); brother Peter Surowy (Massachusetts, U.S.A.); sister-in-law Lena Malagus; grandsons, Henry Bacal and family, Jonathan Slota, Smith brothers and families in Dryden; granddaughter Renata and family and many nieces and nephews in Poland, Ukraine, United States and Canada and she will be sadly missed by her family. Holy Family, we thank-you a million times for everything you have done to make Bernice comfortable and happy during her stay at your centre. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 23 at 10:30 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior to service at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. Interment will follow in Bird's Hill Park Cemetery.
