ERIKA MUEHLEISEN (nee PETERS) Peacefully on December 20, 2004, after a brief illness, Erika passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 70 years. Predeceased by her parents, Elsa and Peter Peters, sister Louise and spouse Fred Goerlitz, and brother Artur Peters. Survived by her husband of 50 years Ernst; three children, Elsa Desender, Ernie (Wilma) and Eric; six grandsons, Andrew, Carl, Bryce, Christian, Stephen, Kevin; one granddaughter Britta; brothers, Peter (Kathy), Nick (Louise); sisters, Elsie (Ernie) Janzen, Frieda (Rudy) Redekop; sister-in-law Adina Peters; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in Halbstadt, South Russia, in 1934, she was a refugee in Germany, Paraguay and Argentina, where she and Ernst were married. They finally settled in Winnipeg creating a home and family. She loved gardening, baking, crocheting, her pets and spending quality time with family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St. In keeping with Mom's wishes cremation will follow.
