LAURITZ JENSEN It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lauritz (Larry) (Lars) in Victoria, BC on December 19, 2004, his 88th birthday. Dad is survived by his wife Roma Connor; his children, Tom (Jo), Alice, David (Viv), Bruce (Sari), Lloyd (Sue); his extended family, Judy (Ron) Morris, Wayne Connor, Sharon (Lloyd) Roberts, Melody (Peter) Kerr and Pam (Brian) LeRoux; brothers and sisters, Mary, Magda, Anne, Anton, Chris and Timmey; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his first wife Georgina and daughter Donna. Dad was born December 19, 1916 in Winnipeg, MB to Hans Christian and Mortine Jensen. He spent his early years on the farm near Moosehorn, joined the Army in April 1942 and received training in Portage La Prairie and Shilo, MB, Fort Benning, GA, USA. He served with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion in Normandy, France in June 1944. After discharge from the Army in December 1945, he went to work for Canada Packers Inc. in Winnipeg for 41 years. In 1961 the family moved from Winnipeg to the Stonewall area where he spent much time helping out on neighbour's farms as well as farming his own land. After Mom passed away in 1989, he married Roma and moved to Victoria. Dad was proud of his military service and in his late years spent much time travelling to many reunions with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion Association and the Canadian Airborne Forces Association. One of his most memorable trips was to the dedication of Ex Coelis Mountain in honour of the sacrifices made by the Airborne. He was a longtime Royal Canadian Legion Member with Branch 31 in Victoria and Branch 52 in Stonewall. The family would like to pass on their gratitude to the health care people in Victoria that took exceptional care of Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation, 1952 Bay St., Victoria, BC V8R 1J8 or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the families. Cremation has taken place. His memorial service will be held at a later date at the MacKenzie's Funeral Home in Stonewall. MB. FIRST MEMORIAL FUNERAL SERVICES (250) 384-5512
