MICHAEL DYRDA Surrounded by his family, Michael passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital on December 21, 2004 at the age of 75. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Paulette and his four children, Glen (Joan) and their children, Leigh, Jeffrey and Keith; Colleen Comeau (Dean); Chris (Karen) and their children, Andrew, Adam and Aaron; and Michele Kehler (Randy) and their children, Jill Reid (Steve) and Scott; and by his stepsons, Raymond Belot (Margaret) and their daughter Charlotte; and Gilles Belot. Michael was predeceased by his first wife Mary in 1989. They moved to Oakbank in 1953 when Michael began a lifelong career in education in the Transcona-Springfield School Division. He taught and served as principal of elementary schools in both Oakbank and Dugald over a period of 35 years. Michael was fortunate to find love twice, marrying Paulette in 1991. They enjoyed travel, gardening and their home on Pine Drive in Oakbank. They each provided compassion and comfort to one another during their time together. Michael loved the outdoors, particularly if it included golfing, hunting, or fishing. He was a lifelong tinkerer , who loved any project that allowed him to use his self-taught skills as a carpenter, mechanic, painter, landscaper, architect, electrician, and plumber. His family often joked that the only thing Michael hadn't mastered was brain surgery, but only because the opportunity had not yet presented itself. A celebration of Michael's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on December 24 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Cook's Creek, MB. Proceed three miles east of PR 206 on PR 213 (Garven Road) and then three miles north on PR 212. The family would like to extend its thanks to the dedicated staff of the St. Boniface General Hospital, and in particular Dr. John Lee, who worked so hard to save Michael's life. We will forever hold your efforts in our hearts. If friends and family so desire, donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Transcona Funeral Chapel.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)
On behalf of Glenn, Stephen, Mark,Christine, myself and our families we wish to extend our deep sorrow in the sudden passing of Michael. We have all met Michael more than once and always enjoyed his love of life, sense of humour and his friendly ways. Like our own father, Lawrence , he was truly a man for all seasons. One time, we all remember was when he visited the farm when Karen and Chris were getting married. And of course Michael's love for the outdoors was a big hit with Lawrence. Just know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Bev and Tim Lee (Friend) on: Dec 23, 2004
