She lived many years with her family in The Pas then relocated to Winnipeg where she married her second husband, moved to Yellowknife in 1999, wanting to spend her last years with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • There isn't very many days that go by since the passing of my dear "lil grandma" along time ago now. I often get flashbacks filled with fond memories of all the great times we had together. She wasn't only my grandmother but my godmother as well. She took great pride in being supportive of me no matter how troubled I was growing up. She was always on my side no matter whether I was right or wrong. When I became a young man I moved to Winnipeg from my hometown of The Pas and spent very much time with her and Grandpa Vern. We travelled out of the city every chance we got to go fishing out at Lockport on the Red River or camping up the Winnipeg River system. She really loved doing this, we had so much fun all the time laughing with Grandpa and I while we made fun just being goofy with each other. It bothered me so much to grow away from her when I moved from Winnipeg to BC, because I knew there would be an absence in her heart without me. We kept in touch as often as possible especially at times when my life wasn't going in the right direction. She was always there for me to offer advice or support. After her passing there has been times when she came to me in dreams with that beautiful smile she always proudly wore. I became quite involved in traditional spirituality with a few native buddy's I grew close too in BC and during a "sweat" we had attended, my grandma's spirit came to me, I cried with uncontrollable emotion while she sat beside me fighting to understand why my path was so cluttered with ugliness. She comforted me while holding me tightly one more time and kept telling me to be strong "my boy" keep trying to get control of your life once again for I had lost it to addictions. After this experience my troubles of accepting her passing on were gone with the warm wind that came about as she gently drifted away. I loved my grandma so much I cannot express in words how much I truly miss her every day or every year that has went by. I know she looks down upon me at most times while giving me the strength to live without my addictions she helped me get over since 1999. I know she's in peace and will be showing me the way to her heavenly gate when my time comes. - Posted by: Blain Patrick Sigurdson (First Grandson) on: Jan 10, 2013
