FLORENCE STEFANIA SAWATZKY On December 22, 2004 a service was held at Gilbart's Funeral Home in Selkirk, MB for family and friends to say goodbye to Florence Stefania Sawatzky. Florence was born on September 7, 1923 in Gimli, MB. Florence and Abraham were married on April 11, 1942. In fall of 1984 Florence and Abraham moved to Westbank, BC to enjoy their retirement. Abraham passed away in 1994 and Florence remained in Westbank, BC until January of 2003 when she moved back to Winnipeg, MB and eventually back to Selkirk, MB. Throughout her life she lived in several places but her heart always remained in Gimli. Florence will be laid to rest in her hometown of Gimli in spring of 2005. Special Dreams - written by Florence Sawatzky As I travel through my dreams again I see things as they used to be The same old faces The people who meant so much to me I walk down the same streets Searching for all the things that meant home Maple trees framed a certain place where I used to play A swing hung there that was used most every day From the corner I could see The school where I spent my time To learn the things that must be learned And the future seemed mine I owned every leaf upon the trees Every blade of grass upon the ground That little town was mine alone To it my soul was bound There came a day when I said farewell To the place I longed to be And love took me far away Only in special dreams my lovely little town I see Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
