ZENA AGNES GIBSON (MACLEOD) Peacefully on December 21, 2004, with her family at her side, Zena Gibson passed away at the Park Manor Personal Care Home. Zena was born in Rothshire, Scotland, on November 6, 1917. She immigrated with her family to Canada in 1926, settling in Roblin, MB. She was predeceased by her parents, Jessie and John MacLeod; brothers, Findlay, Ross and Jack; son Graham (1988); husband Bill (1996) and great-grandson Aiden Graham Gibson-Loranger (2004). Left to remember her are daughter Marguerite (Lorne) How of Winnipeg; daughter-in-law Barbara (Brian) Gibson-Clifford of Edmonton; grandchildren, Jennifer How of Winnipeg, Bradford How of New York, Kerri (Kris) Gibson-Loranger and Ryan Gibson of Edmonton; sister Jessie (Arthur) Lovas of Roblin, MB; sister-in-law Dorothy Taylor of Vancouver; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her extended and adopted family members are located across the country. While living in Roblin, Mom met and married William Gibson on February 4, 1938. They then moved to St. Vital where she lived until 2002. Mom loved to meet people and make friends, a passion that involved her with the St. Vital United Church Sunday School, Brownies and Women's Auxiliary. During the 70's, Mom worked at the Dakota Collegiate cafeteria where she enjoyed every encounter with students and staff. This was not a job, but rather a way to keep involved with younger people, and fulfill her love of people. Mom stayed active by participating in the Norberry Seniors Group Carpet Bowling and the Glenwood Bowling League. She loved to attend sporting events, concerts, and movies with her grandchildren. It was time together that they cherished. Her home was always open to family and friends for tea and good company. Mom lived in her home until October 2002. After a period in hospital, she moved to Park Manor Personal Care Home, where she lived until her passing. Park Manor quickly became her home where she made very close friends with Daphne and Doris, the trio later known as the three musketeers . She was friends with all the residents and loved the staff with all her heart. This was her community of extended family. Our family and Mom thank them for their love, their care and their friendship. Friends and staff visited right to the end. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, Park Manor Personal Care Home, Transcona or a charity of their choice. Funeral service to be held on Monday, December 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street with Chaplains, Mark Scott and John Diamond officiating. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
