Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANASTASIA (NETTIE) SLOBODIAN During the evening on Monday, December 20, 2004 at the Seven Oaks Hospital our precious Nettie was carried peacefully on the wings of angels where she was welcomed by Jesus into his Heavenly Kingdom. Nettie will be deeply missed by her beloved companion and soulmate sister Nellie Stolash, loving sister-in-law Helen Slobodian and her very devoted and doting niece and great-nephew Darlene and Duane Garett Dahl. Nettie is now reunited with her wonderful parents, Gregory and Tennie Slobodian; brother Joseph; her special brother and best friend Stephen and her kind brother-in-law Frank Stolash. Nettie was born in Winnipeg on February 16, 1915; she was 89 years old. This coming February she would have celebrated her 90th birthday. Nettie was employed at the tender age of 16 with DRG Globe Envelopes... an incredible career that spanned 48 years with the same' company. To say she loved this dynamic firm goes without saying. She was dedicated, hardworking and extremely loyal. She made many lifelong friendships. Nettie was a loving, gentle, gracious, easygoing lady. Family was her priority. She participated in all of our memorable family celebrations; she never missed an activity, a school concert, dance recital, graduation, etc. She was a beautiful human being who touched our hearts and souls. Nettie in her prime was an excellent bowler and also for a time belonged to the Professional Business Woman's Association. However, sports, all sports for that matter were Nettie's passion, especially football and hockey. Nettie, Nellie and Steve held season tickets to their beloved Winnipeg Blue Bombers for many years. Retirement was special to Nettie, she travelled extensively throughout Canada and the US; her favourite destinations were Hawaii and Las Vegas; 3 trips per year to her beloved City That Never Sleeps were an absolute must. On July 7, 2003, due to the ravages of old age, both Nettie and sister Nellie entered their new home the Maples Personal Care Home where they found a very safe haven. At this time the family would like to thank the entire staff at the Maples Personal Care Home for their exceptional and excellent care of Nettie; especially her favourite angels on One West for their respect, compassion, tenderness and loving friendship... each and everyone of you truly made a difference. A bouquet of thanks and appreciation to Jan and Lou Joyal for their faithful, cheery and kind weekly visits. Also a special thank you to those who were with us at the beginning, namely our special friends Christine Johnson, WRHA; Ruth Schau, Home Care and the kindness of Sgt. Bob Melnyk and of course the marvellous staff at the P.T. Office for managing Nettie's administrative affairs, especially the very special and capable Angele Matyi, Barbara Regier and Brian Stephenson; you made all things possible. Respecting Nettie's wishes, there will be no formal service. Cremation has already taken place and interment will take place at a later date at All Saints Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined, Extend a special gesture of kindness to a complete stranger or you may make a donation in Nettie's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Her thoughts were all so full of us, She never could forget, And so we think that where she is She must be watching yet As angels keep their watch there Please God, just let her know That we down here do not forget, We love and miss her so.
