SARAH BROTMAN It is with great sadness we announce that Sarah Brotman, aged 93, passed away on December 23, 2004, at the Riverview Health Centre. She was predeceased in 1986 by her beloved husband of 50 years, Ernest A. Brotman, Q.C. She is survived by her three daughters, Brenlee Werner (Nathan), Caroline Cramer (Ray Drobko), Bonnie Comfort (Bob) and by her grandchildren, Shelley Werner (Saul Simmonds), Janet Werner (Adrian Norvid), Elaine Cramer (David Gerring), and her great-grandchildren, Lewis Robinovitch, Jonah Simmonds, Hannah and Aviva Gerring. Sarah was born in Winnipeg, raised in Los Angeles along with her three brothers Harry, Joe, and Barney Shane. In 1934 she married Ernest Brotman, and returned to the city of her birth. She was a talented and well-noted Winnipeg artist, whose work was vibrant and appealing. As a highly prolific painter, her work varied in style. She was dedicated to her art well into her 80s. Her oil paintings and drawings were sold to buyers across Canada. Sarah was a woman of great warmth and character with a charming personality and a quick wit. She was devoted to her family, and her insight, wisdom, and generosity of heart have inspired us. She was a pivotal link in a long line of remarkable women. We will miss her deeply, and cherish her memory. Funeral services were held at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, 561 Wellington Cres. at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, December 26 with interment at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Private shivah will be observed. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Cancercare Manitoba or Riverview Health Centre.
