KATHERINE GERON Peacefully on December 21, 2004, Katherine (Kay) Geron passed away into the hands of God at the Holy Family Nursing Home. Katherine was predeceased by her parents, Anastasia and Justyn; brother Peter and nephew Victor. Left to mourn her passing are her sisters, Mary, Anne and Elizabeth (Ed); sister-in-law Marilea; nieces and nephews, Craig (Jodi), Lynne (Jeff), Jack (Pat), Bernadette (Al), Lawrence (Delanne), Walter (Madelaine), James (Lynne) and Bruce as well as numerous grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Kay was an active member of the Holy Eucharist Church and St. Alphonsus Church. She had a passion for music, participating in many choirs throughout the years. As a CWL member, Kay often assisted in various events and volunteered at the thrift shop. Kay's professional life centred around aviation, staring with the RCAF during The Second World War. She continued her career with TCA, which later became Air Canada. After 42 years of dedicated service there, Kay took a well-deserved retirement. Her passion for aviation was continued in her many travels around the world but her greatest passion was always her family. She enjoyed most of all the family celebrations, the dinners and especially the singsongs around the table. Whenever anyone needed help, Kay was always there, ready with her arms open wide to offer any assistance that she could. More of a sister than a friend, more of a mother than an aunt, Kay will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Kay's family would like to thank the staff of the St. Francis Wing of Holy Family Nursing Home for their many kindnesses given to Kay over the years. Evening prayers will be said on Tuesday, December 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Darren Kawiuk officiating. To celebrate Kay's life Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier with Brother Jorge Villegas, o.f.m. Cap. as celebrant. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kay's memory to St. Alphonsus Church or the Holy Family Nursing Home.
