ELIZABETH MEIER 1914 - 2004 In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Meier It is with great sorrow the family announce the sudden passing of Elizabeth Meier on December 25, 2004 at Red River Place Personal Care Home, Selkirk, MB, at the age of 90 years. Left to cherish her memory: daughter Gertie (Walter) Peters; son Henry (Alice); daughter-in-law Avis Meier; grandchildren, Gary, Ron (Carol) and Jim (Carla) Peters; Jeffery (Lana) Meier, Judy and Joy Meier (Tom): Michael (Shana) Meier, Crystal (Craig) Reise and Eric Meier; great-grandchildren, Darwin, Darnell, Vienna, Katia, Aiden Peters; Mollie, Branden, Chanele, Annaliese and Matthieu Meier; step-sister Agnes Kleiter; sisters-in-law, Anna Menze and Marie Menze of Germany. There are numerous nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband John; her parents, Gertrud and Heinrich Menze; brothers, Bernard, Anton and Heinrich; step-mother Katharina; son Herbert Meier and granddaughter June Peters. Born in Langenberg, Germany October 7, 1914. Married John Meier in 1937, came to Canada and first settled in Stony Mountain, MB. Farmed in that area as well as the Stonewall area and retired to the town of Stonewall. She took great pleasure in the simple things of life. She was always there for her family. She loved to sing, member of the C.W.L. ladies and bowled in her later years. She was a people person. Life was not always easy but the challenges were met with courage, determination and hard work. Prayers will be held on Monday, December 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, Stonewall. Rev. Fr. Gerald Langevin officiating. Interment to follow in the Stonewall Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ron Peters, Jim Peters, Jeff Meier, Michael Meier, Eric Meier and Craig Reise. Friends who so desire may make donations to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg R3L 0K6 or to a charity of one's choice.
