RUBY PEARL CHABOYER (SHYNKARUK)
Date of Passing: Dec 24, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUBY PEARL CHABOYER (nee SHYNKARUK) It is with sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our wife, mother and Baba on December 24, 2004. Ruby will be remembered and deeply missed by Donald her husband of 46 years and her six children, Deb, Wendy (Michael) in Australia, Gwen (Neil), Marilyn (Trevor), Brian (Heather) in Vermont, and Christine in the Czech Republic. Also left to remember her are 12 grandchildren, Drew, Rowan, Robyn, Cara, Brant, Samantha, Jennifer, Melissa, Eric, Jesse, Riley and Shelby. Ruby and Donald's many close friends and extended family will miss her devotion to family and her generosity. While Ruby slowed down these last few years she was always willing to help and could be counted on to see what needed to be done. She took great pride in her house plants and regaled others with the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Ruby loved to camp and travel and had been looking forward to a planned fifth wheel trip down the Baja Peninsula of Mexico. Ruby was born in Saskatoon in 1938 and spent the first 18 years of her life on the Shynkaruk farm just outside of Prud'Homme. Ruby moved to Winnipeg after high school and worked at Manitoba Hydro. She met Donald in September of 1957 and married in June of 1958. When her youngest child was 3, Ruby went to university. She earned her Teacher's Certificate in 1974 and her B.A. in 1980 at the University of Winnipeg. Ruby worked as a teacher in 3 schools in the River East School Division. In her 22 years as a teacher, Ruby influenced and supported many students. She was always able to see the many strengths of her students and she helped them see the best within themselves. A service to celebrate Ruby's 66 years of life will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 3:00 p.m. at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with cremation to follow. For those that choose, a viewing will be held just prior to the service. Donald asked that you do not send flowers, but make a donation in Ruby's memory to the St. Boniface Research Foundation and direct it towards the sleep lab, heart and stroke research or diabetic research, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
