WALTER RZESZUTEK It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father on December 23, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 80. He is mourned by his beloved wife of 59 years Stefania, and his seven children: daughters, Mary Polanin (Janus) of Prince George, BC, Halina Walsh (Emil), Krystyna (Lyle), Apolonia Sajnovics (Sandor), Evelina (Walter), and sons, Antonio (Mary) and Walter (Tammy) of Winnipeg. He also leaves to mourn grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Krystyna and her daughter Taylor of Edmonton, AB, Andrea and her son Logan of Prince George, BC, Mike of Smithers, BC, Eva and her sons, Luciano and Angelo, Sandor, Stephanie, Jonathan, Glen, Elizabeth, Crystal and Matthew of Winnipeg. Walter is survived by his two sisters, Josephine and Helen and family in Poland. He is also survived by his nephew Ed and nieces, Helen and Sophie and their families. He was predeceased by his brother Stanley in Poland in August 2004 and Joseph of Winnipeg in September 2004. Born in Poland on June 17, 1924, Walter spent most of the war years in Germany. During the war years he met Stefania and they married in 1945. They immigrated to Brazil in 1949 where they spent 21 years. In 1970 Walter, his wife Stefania and their seven children immigrated to Canada and began anew once again. Walter worked for the University of Manitoba as an animal attendant and caretaker until his retirement in 1986 after heart bypass surgery. Dedication to his family and concrete belief in God almighty were the cornerstones of Walter's life. He dedicated himself to his children and tried his very best to provide guidance, support and for the needs of his children. Dad always tried his very best at everything that he attempted. He especially loved growing fruit trees and growing all types of vegetables in his garden both in Canada and when we lived in Brazil. He especially loved springtime and every year Dad seemed to be renewed at this time of the year. To us Dad was a born leader and he led his family through many stressful times and we are eternally grateful to him. In his last days our Dad suffered immensely as he fought this one last battle courageously and it profoundly moved all of his children. We thank God for giving us the time we had with our wonderful Dad and the many cherished memories. Dad we love you dearly and will miss you. You are forever in our hearts. Thank you for all that you did for Mom and us, and may God grant you peace and find a place in Heaven for you. May the light of Jesus Christ always shine upon you. Our family would like to thank all of those who sincerely tried to help our beloved father fight his illnesses. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface Hospital who cared for our father throughout his illnesses. Thanks to the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home who honestly cared for our Dad. Thanks to our loving cousins Helen, Sophie and Ed for your support during these hard times. Thanks to all friends of the family for your support. May God Bless You All. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, December 28 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
