ANNE SCHMIDT (nee DORMER) Anne Schmidt (nee Dormer) went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2004, at the age of 78. Anne was born February 26, 1926 in Bikal, Hungary to Anna and Henry Dormer. They moved to Canada when Anne was one year old and settled on a farm near Winnipeg. On September 22, 1945 Anne and Neil Schmidt were married. Together they raised two daughters, Lenora and Cora Lynne. Anne was a very talented and creative person. From an early age, she excelled at sewing, which led her into a career as a seamstress in bridal fashions. Throughout the years she was very active in her church and community. Despite working, she continued to sew beautiful creations for friends and family. In her retirement years, her passions were quilting and travelling with Neil. Mom's loving, caring, generosity and strong personality were a great factor in our family life. Her home was always open to family and friends. Her strong faith in God was an example to all. Anne was the eldest of five children. She was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Henry and in 2000 by her husband Neil; son-in-law Roland; nephew Corey and brother-in-law Jake. She is survived by her daughters, Lenora (Nicholas) Gnida, Cora Lynne Schneider; grandchildren, Christopher (Julia) Gnida, Brenda (Rob) McDonald, Jonathan Schneider, Angela Schneider and great-grandson Austin Schneider. She is also survived by her siblings, Henry (Susie) Dormer, Margaret Kroeker, John (Mary) Dormer and Ernie (Darlene) Dormer and her special friend and stepmother Magdi Dormer. She will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends. A service to commemorate and celebrate her life will be held at GRACE BIBLE CHURCH, 366 Oakwood Ave., Winnipeg, on Thursday, December 30 at 1:00 p.m. Viewing and visitation at the church December 29 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and December 30 from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Samaritan's Purse, or Grace Bible Church Building Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Wiebe's Funeral Home of Altona. Director Terry Wiebe (204) 324-5404.
