KATE (KIT) MARGARET HUDSON (nee WATSON) July 20, 1929 - December 27, 2004 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Kate (Kit) Margaret Hudson on December 27, 2004. Mom was born in Kenora, ON to Jessie and Jock Watson. At the age of one she moved to St. James, attending Britannia and Linwood Schools. The family moved to Dugald, MB in 1943. Mom taught school at Allendale School, Rossendale, MB on a Grade 11 permit, followed by five years at the Imperial Bank in Winnipeg. On November 17, 1951, Mom married Harold (Murray) Hudson, residing at Poplar Grove Farm until her passing. Mom was proud to be a stay-at-home mum with her three children, Lesley, Philip, and Jeffrey. She took great pride in her yard tending to her flower gardens and canning the many jars of pickles and jams each year. Her kitchen was an open house to anyone who wanted a good meal and good company. Mom enjoyed her many hours canvassing for Red Cross with Dad. She never missed a Dugald Fair. In her spare time she enjoyed doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles and knitting many gifts for her grandchildren. Her love for animals was evident on the farm and in the house with her special pets. Her latest enjoyment was playing bingo with good friends and neighbours. One of Mom's greatest thrills was the trip her and Dad took to Great Britain on their 25th Anniversary to meet her father's relatives in Scotland. She was very proud of her three children and took great pride in the accomplishments of her seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Murray; parents, Jock and Jess Watson; brother George Watson; brother-in-law Bob Hill; one nephew and great-nephew; mother and father-in-law (Gordon and Maggie); sisters-in-law, Carol and Pam; and brothers-in-law, Russell and Ed. She is survived by daughter Lesley (Oliver) Monkman; sons, Philip (Gisele), and Jeffrey (Veanne); seven grandchildren, Murray Monkman, Ryan, Chelsea and Sara Hudson, and Karlene, Kristin and Kodi Hudson; sisters, Eunice (Glen) Edie, Louisa Hill; brother John (Eileen) Watson; and sister-in-law Pat Watson. Also surviving are her husband's sisters, Shirley (Mel), Bev (Bill); brother Douglas (Irene); and many nieces, nephews and cousins, also special family friend Neil Edie. At Mom's wishes, Honorary Pallbearers are: Joyce Gerardin, Madeline Martin, Elizabeth Cowan, Sophie Dudych, Marjorie Koskie, and Joan Emond. The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and attendants of St. Boniface Hospital 5B Ward. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba in Mom's memory will be greatly appreciated. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Rev. Ken Vaags officiating. We will watch for your WAVES from the windows of Heaven Mom. With love always. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
