CATHERINE (KAY) STEINHAUER March 12, 1916 - December 27, 2004 Peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2004, Kay Steinhauer, aged 88 years passed away at Holy Family Nursing Home. Kay is survived by her sister Min Popyk; niece Beverley (Walter) Popyk all of Ottawa; nieces, Terri Kentch (Paul), Lynn Gibb and Pat Kentch; nephews, Bob (Bonnie) Kentch and Jim (Matilda) Gibb; and numerous cousins, great-nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn are members of the Steinhauer family. She was predeceased by her husband Henry (Butch) in 1967; her parents, Mary and William Kentch; brother Maurice Kentch and sister Ann Gibb. Kay was born in Winnipeg and raised in the Brooklands area. After marriage Kay and Henry resided in the Point Douglas area for many years and were co-owners of Valley Flowers with Ida and Jack Kurtz. In her teens, Kay played organized ladies hockey at the Olympic Rink. She was a life member of the Canadian German Society, St. John's Sportsman Club, St. John's Ladies 10 Pin League, Kildonan Ladies Golf Club and the Fort Garry Curling Club. She was an avid world traveller but loved her Winnipeg. Kay also enjoyed her day trips to the casinos across the border with some of her many friends. Auntie Kay will be deeply missed by all. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers on 2A at the Holy Family Nursing Home for all their care and compassion. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 31, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
