STELLA (STEPHANIA) REID
Born: Jan 28, 1916
Date of Passing: Dec 28, 2004
Offer Condolences or MemorySTELLA (STEPHANIA) REID (nee FEDAK) Peacefully after a short illness, Stella Reid passed away on Tuesday evening, December 28, 2004. Born on January 28, 1916, in the village of Brooklands, MB. Stella was predeceased by her parents Anna and Andrew Fedak; husband Alfred E. Reid; three infant siblings, Harry in Ukraine, Billy and Jenny in Canada; and sisters, Mary Kusyk (Dan), Sophie Faso (Joe), Anastasia (Nellie) Walker (George), Olga Skromeda (Steve), Anne Holowec (Michael); and brother Andrew (Jean Regula). She is survived by sister Irene; brother Michael (Vera McGeoch); many nieces and nephews and other extended family in Canada and the U.S.A. Stella was educated in Brooklands school, then worked very hard with her dad and sisters to build their family business, Brooklands Lumber and Fuel. Following the early death of their father, she continued in the business until it was sold. She married Alfred Reid in 1941, and continued working, first for Dominion Envelope and Cartons Ltd., then with Bond and Ronald Chocolates. Upon the death of her husband, she continued living alone in her little home in Brooklands, active in the Brooklands Ukrainian Ladies Club and the Brooklands Pioneer Club, loving her garden, and just being a kind friend to her neighbours and their children. Her last few years were spent living in Lions Place, where she quickly built a circle of friends, and participated in events with them until falling ill. Stella's family extends sincere thanks to niece Brenda McDonell and her husband Ron for their exceptional loving care during Stella's final years and days of illness. The first response team and staff at Health Sciences Centre were kind and gentle to Stella and her family, allowing her to pass on in peace and dignity. A service of remembrance and interment next to her husband will be held on Monday, January 3, 2005, at 10:00 a. m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. GOD BE WITH YOU TILL WE MEET AGAIN Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca
