LAURA SCHLOSSER (nee LEUNG) It is with deep sorrow the family announces the unexpected passing of Laura Schlosser in Swan River on Saturday, December 25, 2004, at the age of 76 years. Laura was born in Stenen, SK on September 2, 1928 to Winnie (Wowrow) and Choy Leung. Her family moved to Swan River where Laura grew up, attending Duncan School and working in the family laundry business. On June 19, 1952, she married Otto Schlosser, and together they moved to Pioneer Mines, BC, where they were both worked. They resided there for six years and started a family before returning to Swan River. During her life, Laura had many varied interests throughout the years. She was a member of the Royal Purple and Rebekahs. Laura had a passion for gardening and the outdoors. She also loved dancing, bowling, crocheting, embroidery, and gathering for coffee and social outings with her many dear friends. She was a vibrant, loving person who touched many lives where her outgoing personality and genuine interest and concern for others. Laura loved life, and was very devoted to and proud of her family. She will be sadly missed by her loving children, Fredrick Otto (Trudy) Schlosser, Judy Jobin, Debbie (David) Terleski, Garry (Kalina) Schlosser, Terry (Bernadette) Schlosser, and David Schlosser; her three brothers, Mike (Eileen) Leung, Pete (Lee) Leung, and Charlie (Pat) Leung; brother-in-law Stan Ridgeway; sister-in-law Berna Schlosser; 12 grandchildren, Cindy, Derrick, Suzanne, Jacqueline, Michael, Steven, Natasha, Selena, Angela, Kirk, Brittany, and Rebecca; four great-grandchildren, Tallea, Malila, Noah, and Anthony; her special aunt, Mary Yarycky; as well numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of many friends. Laura was predeceased by her husband, Otto; her mother, Winnifred Leung; her father, Choy Leung; and by her three sisters, Ruth Leung, Anne Fint, and Josephine Ridgeway. Evening visitations will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 30 from the Chapel of Paull Funeral Home, Swan River. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, December 31 from the St. Andrews United Church, Swan River, with Rev. Salesi Takau and Rev. Murray Wenstob officiating. Laura will be laid to rest in the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River following the service. The pallbearers will be Fredrick Otto Schlosser, Garry Schlosser, Terry Schlosser, David Schlosser, David Terleski, Leonard Sakal, and Dwight Thompson. Memorial donations in Laura's honour may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
