NORA EMILY SMITH Nora Emily Smith, aged 94, died peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Nora will be lovingly remembered by four daughters, Pat Powell, Janet (Ken) Hjorleifson, Judy Monro, Jeanne (Ken) Wakshinsky; and son Norman (Beverley). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John; sons-in-law, Tim Powell and Jack Monro. Nora was born and educated in London, England. Before coming to Canada in 1941, she worked for the Telegraph Office in London. She and her husband came to Toronto and later settled in Winnipeg. They raised their family in Winnipeg and spent many summers at the family cottage at Ponemah Beach. Part of their retirement years were spent at their Gimli condo. Many thanks to the nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital and Dr. Mould for their kindness and good care. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she's gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what she'd want; smile, open your eyes, love and go on. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
