VIRGINIA LILLIAN JOHNSTON (nee CARDINAL) March 26, 1926 - December 28, 2004 Peacefully, on Tuesday, December 28, 2004, Virginia passed away at home, with her family by her side. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband T. Robert (Bob), of 58 years of marriage; her children, Carol, Donna Boyce (Garry) of Saskatoon, Robert (Wendy) of Whitby, Joanne Urmos (Lou) of North Carolina and Gordon (Rina) of Oshawa; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters; three brothers; special cousin Denise; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Virginia was born and raised in Winnipeg. She served in the C.W.A.C. at Shilo, Kitchener and Calgary. Virginia married Bob in Winnipeg and together they raised five children. She spent most of her life in Winnipeg except for the years that she and Bob spent in Ontario and Nicaragua. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother and her life centered around her family and home. She enjoyed decorating, sewing and painting. One of her joys in life was dancing with her husband. Virginia always made time for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would never tire of listening to her children and grandchildren around the kitchen table. A private family funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's All Beliefs and Faiths Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Ave. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the inurnment in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. Please meet at the Brookside Cemetery office at 2:45 p.m. Our family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers of the WRHA Palliative Care Program.
