SYBE DE JONG June 20, 1921 - December 24, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Sybe was born in Firdgum, Netherlands and came to Winnipeg in 1947. He worked in construction until 1962 and then worked as a custodian for the St. Vital School Division until his 1986 retirement. He enjoyed cycling, travelling, playing bridge, gardening and sharing his garden vegetables with Winnipeg Harvest. Sybe was predeceased by his brother Klaas and granddaughter Maaike. He will be sadly missed by Marguerite, his loving wife of 54 years; son Mark (Mary); daughters, Valerie and Susan (George); grandchildren, Willem, Michael and Klaas, Samantha, Cara and Michael; brother Dirk; nephew Dirk; nieces, Joanne, Dixie, Ytje and cousins. The family wishes to thank friends for their love and support during Sybe's illness. Special thanks to the Riverview Health Centre, 3E caregivers for the excellent care they gave Sybe during his last weeks. You are the best! As per Sybe's request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a charity of one's choice. Goodbye my family, my life has passed. I loved you all to the very last. Weep not for me, but courage take. Love each other, for my sake. For those you love don't go away, They walk beside you every day. Forever in our hearts.
