CRAIG BENJAMIN KENT 1980 - 2004 Demonstrating the same strength and courage he had every day of his life, Craig finally lost his battle with Cystic Fibrosis at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 and left the pain of his world behind to take his rightful place amongst the angels. He will be deeply missed, but thank God, his suffering is done. Farewell from his parents, Gary and Lynn; his sister Jill and brother Jeffrey; his grandmother Nora Ward; his uncle and aunt, Bryon and Terry Kent; cousins, Allison (Rick) and Steven (Elanei), all of Winnipeg; his uncle and aunt, Bob and Joan Peachey; and cousins, Todd (Jan), Greg (Cindy) and Jay (Jan), all of the West Coast; along with his numerous second cousins. Finally his special friend Erica who has been his support and confidant of many years. Craig was born in Regina, SK on April 2, 1980, moved to Dauphin, MB in 1984 and finally Winnipeg in 1985, where Craig spent his remaining years. Craig was a Charleswood Boy attending Dieppe School, Westdale Junior High and Shaftesbury High School and playing sports out of Roblin Park Community Club. Craig loved participant sports - soccer, lacrosse and especially hockey! Craig played competitive hockey, until he could no longer participate due to health at the age of 15. Although Craig was unable to play competitive hockey, he was approached to assist in coaching his younger brother Jeff's team by Bert Gregoire. Bert and Craig were a great team and went on to coach the Westdale Minor Pee Wee A2 and the Roblin Park Pee Wee A2 to two straight City Championships. Craig said these were the best years of his life . Following high school, Craig opted for some independence and with the support and help of his parents, Craig moved into an apartment first with his friend Erica, and later, with his sister Jill. Craig loved animals and was able to rescue a kitten from the Humane Society. Butter's Kent (the cat) was his constant companion. Craig was able to travel to Disney World compliments of the Rainbow Society. He also visited Mexico and several trips to the West Coast during his life. His last trip, in the fall, was on a salmon fishing trip with his Dad and uncle Bob at Port Alberni, BC. Although we lacked an official weigh scale, Craig insisted that he landed the biggest fish, and we have yet to prove him wrong. Cystic Fibrosis was a daily challenge for Craig. Regardless, Craig participated in many of the fundraisers for this cause beginning at a very early age. Craig had lost many friends in the CF community which was a great sadness to him and a constant reminder of his own mortality. A celebration of Craig's life will take place at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Please join the family in celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Winnipeg Chapter, PO Box 21008, 33-3900 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3R 3R6. A special thanks to Dr. Warren and the staff on GH6 at Health Sciences Centre for their care, compassion, support, friendship and kindness. We will always be grateful.

It has now been 20 years since the struggle with your cumbersome body ended. I think of you, not as much as when you first left, but always on holidays. I never forget your birthday or the anniversary of today's date. I hope you and Gram along with my Mom are taking care of Brett, until we get there. Love from all of us, Annie Terry ❤️ - Posted by: Terry Kent (Aunt) on: Dec 28, 2024

It has been more then 11 years since you left this world for a better place. I still think of you every day. I found all of the letters you sent me the other day. It was wonderful to read through them. I had quite a few laughs and cried a few tears. So many little jokes that only we would understand. You were a great friend and I am so thankful that I had you in my life. I take comfort knowing that you are in a better place and are no longer in pain. - Posted by: Amy Goulet () on: Apr 22, 2016

10 years today my friend! You have not been forgotten "We did good" We coached together & made team decisions with a lot of success because of our mutual respect, you were mature beyond your years.... But the end result was that we contributed to the community and made it a better place, just look at the successful young adults that we had a part in who they are today, that strive to be successful, that Craig is part of your legacy. Till we meet again my friend. - Posted by: Bert Gregoire (friend) on: Dec 28, 2014

To the Kent Family: Craig and I had been friends for years. I met him in the hospital in 1996 when I was admitted to Childrens. He had shown me nothing but love and kindness in the years that I have known him. He was always a special friend and I will remember him forever. He is with the angels, and finally his suffering is over. All my love to the entire familly. Craig will always hold a special place in my heart. - Posted by: Christy Beazley (Friend) on: Jan 22, 2005

To the Kent family; Please know how very sorry I am to hear of Craig's passing. Craig always held a special place in my heart, as we knew each other through Breath Free Camp, and I seem to recall on one occassion him coming to my birthday. I'm glad to hear that he kept the fight until the very end. All my love and thoughts. - Posted by: Elizabeth Dawkins (Acquaintance) on: Jan 11, 2005

To the Kent family; Please know how very sorry we were to hear of Craig's death. Both Danny and I remember Craig with much fondness, and enjoyed our association with him during his youth. Craig fought this cruel disease with courage and dignity, and he leaves a legacy of strength and a life well lived. May God grant you peace at this trying time. - Posted by: Jessica Holbrow and Danny Castillo (Friend) on: Jan 03, 2005
