GORDON HUBKA Gordon, aged 80 years, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2004, at the Riverview Health Care Centre, which had been his home for many years. He was surrounded by family, friends and staff during his passing and went quietly with much love and tears. Dad was born Gregory Gordon on February 11, 1924. To his friends he was known as Gordon, to his colleagues and friends at C.N.R. he was known as Hubka until his first grandchild was born, then some changed from Hubka to G.G, standing for his initials and his new title as grandfather. To his grandchildren he was Gigi, and to his family and later some friends he became known as Geege. Dad retired from the C.N.R. after 29 years of service in 1982. He was a lifetime member of the Seven Oaks Game and Fish Association. Before and after retirement he and mom enjoyed spending the summers at Lake Manitoba Narrows Lodge where they kept a trailer and spent as much time as they could fishing and socializing. Dad is survived by his brother Mitchell in Edmonton; his daughter Bardee and partner Pancho and grandson Trever in Winnipeg; son Greg and wife Margo and grandchildren, Devon and Jordon in Oshawa and grandson Bryan and partner Rachael and great-grandson Justin in Ottawa. We will all miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his wife Jean on July 9, 2001. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2005, in the chapel at the Riverview Health Centre, One Morley Ave. The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful staff and volunteers at Riverview. Their exceptional dedication and care, during healthy times and illness, made dad's stay there a feeling of community, love and belonging. Thank you, everyone. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gordon's memory to The Riverview Health Care Centre. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
