CECIL ROBERT LAIRD SNEESBY January 14, 1915 - December 24, 2004 Peacefully Cecil was freed from Alzheimer's, the disease in which he was imprisoned for so long. He leaves to miss his wonderful smile and beautiful blue eyes his wife Joan; his daughter Charlene (Horst Erb); and his last remaining sister Thelma (Roy Fraser); two great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Maxine; and his special friends Dennis and Heather Halsall, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary, his siblings Bill (Dinah), Fred (Ruth), Walter (Isabel), George (Alice), Kay (Jack Jardine) and Jack (Pauline). Cecil was very close to his brothers and sisters. The greatest love he shared with all of his siblings was the horse races at Assiniboia Downs. He thought he was a great handicapper but the big wins still eluded him. He was known to frequently say give me fifty and I'll double it for you . Cecil had a forty year career with the Marlborough Hotel. He started as a young bell hop and ended as the Assistant Manager. Once retired from the Marlborough he and Joan ran the flower shop in the Courts of St. James and he ran hither and yon delivering flowers. He was well-known all around as the man who handed out little lapel roses. Joan and Charlene wish to thank the many kind people at Kildonan Person Care Centre. The many health care aides, who are truly angels on this earth, cared for him with such tender loving concern. We have truly considered them family members over this last five years, and they will forever be in our grateful hearts. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at Kildonan Personal Care Centre, 1970 Henderson Hwy. on Wednesday January 5, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
