Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINIFRED ELLA GIBB Win, widow of the late Alex Gibb, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 29, 2004. She was predeceased by her mother Josephine Reid, brother Archie and loving husband Alex. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Susan; son Sandy; daughter-in-law Patsy; and grandchildren, Casey, Alexandra and Kathryn; sister-in-law Betty and other members of the family. Win was born and raised in Winnipeg and attended Kelvin High School. She and Alex were actively involved in Young People's at Rosedale United Church and later were coeditors of The Rosedale News for many years. Win and Alex married in 1943 and moved to Riverview in 1949 where they raised their family. The community was important to the family and Win was involved in the Neighbourhood Talent Group. Before they were married Win and Alex spent time with friends at West Hawk Lake and sharing a love of the outdoors, they realized their dream of building a cottage at the lake in the late 40s. Win and the family spent all of their summers there. They also enjoyed winter activities, such as, the Falcon Lake Curling Bonspiels which later came to involve the whole family. Win and Alex opened their home and cottage on many occasions for family and friends for special events such as Grey Cup, Christmas, MTS staff and ski patrol parties. As long time Winnipeg Blue Bomber fans, they provided a home for their other sons Bill and Sherwyn for many football seasons. For many years, Win enjoyed walking her Norwegian Elkhounds and meeting other Riverview dog lovers along Churchill Drive. One of her greatest joys was visiting with Casey, Alex and Kathryn during their Christmas and summer holidays. We love you and will miss you. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home. Interment will take place later in the year at Brookside Cemetery.
