Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE (LES) GUSTAVE FONTAINE June 15, 1956 - December 29, 2004 With sadness, the family of Les Fontaine announces his sudden passing at the age of 48 years. He is survived by his wife Olive; step-children, Joyce, Morgan, Mary, Audrey, Charlene and Charles (Chuck); adopted son Nathan; son Adrian; and three grandchildren. He was raised by his maternal grandmother Irene Fontaine and regarded his aunts and uncles as brothers and sisters, Frank (Susan), Freda Bear, Josephine Guimond, Douglas (Marie), Ambrose, Norman (Verdine) and Sandra (Dennis Swampy). He is also survived by his mother Lillian (Stan); siblings, Brenda, Warren (Bonnie), Donna, Earl (Shirley), Mark, Merv (Nicole), Rhonda (Frank Abraham), Ron (Farrell), Sheila (Dean Martin), Donna (Larry Courchene) and numerous relatives, in-laws and friends. Les was predeceased by his grandmother Irene, uncles, George, Leonard and Howard and nephews, Clayton (Gus) and Howard Jr. Les was well known for his advocacy work with diabetes awareness and had organized an awareness campaign among First Nations communities across Canada. He enjoyed life and spent many of his recent years with his relatives and close friends sharing stories of his adventures and travels. He especially loved spending time with young relatives, often playing Santa at Christmas time. He will be fondly remembered for his humour and laughter. Funeral service will be on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church, Fort Alexander, MB with Fr. Gerry Sembrano officiating. Pallbearers will be his brothers, Warren, Earl, Mark, Merv, Ron; stepsons, Morgan and Charles and cousin Little Dennis. Honorary pallbearers are Howard Swampy, Dennis Swampy, Romain Berthelette, Dwayne Bird, Dennell Swampy and John Monias.
