Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH ANTHONY WEIDL Peacefully in his sleep, Dad passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2004, at the Gimli Community Health Centre in Gimli, MB. He was born in Contraverse, Austria, on December 14, 1910. He is survived by his wife Johanna (Dolly) and his children, Arnold (Sandy) of Winnipeg Beach, Geraldine (Rodney) of Winnipeg, Roy (Janice) of Winnipeg and Randy (Doris) of St. Paul, AB. He is also lovingly remembered by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Dad immigrated to Canada in 1928 and settled in Winnipeg, where he worked as a tailor. During the depression, he worked as a field hand in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In 1938 he married Johanna Reykdal of Winnipeg Beach. In the winter Dad fished on the lake and he worked on the boardwalk in the summer. In 1954, Dad got his carpentry ticket and worked in the industry until his retirement. This past December he received his 50 year pin from the Carpenters Union Local 343. Dad enjoyed travelling, fishing, family gatherings and playing crib. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 5 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, 291 Church Hill Rd., Winnipeg Beach, with Rev. Peter Flynn officiating. A viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Winnipeg Beach Community Cemetery. Gilbart Funeral Homes, Selkirk and Gimli in care of arrangements.
