ETEL YAKUBOVICH Etel Yakubovich passed away suddenly on December 20, 2004. She was predeceased by her parents, Itzchak and Sura Rusevich; her sister Leza Khapoun; and her beloved husband Alter. She is survived by her son Greg Yakubovich (Mandy); daughter Raya Mermel (Ernest); and granddaughters, Sari and Alexa Yakubovich. She is also survived by her sister Berta Kuperman (Leonid) and nieces and nephews in Calgary and Toronto. Etel was born on May 8, 1920 in the Ukraine and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1973. She and Alter gave up everything in order to provide a better life for their children. Through hard work and unconditional love they succeeded at accomplishing this. Etel was a generous soul, never materially wealthy, but always willing to share what she had with those less fortunate. Special thanks to the nurses in I.C.U. at Victoria Hospital for their kindness and compassion. Donations may be made to the Tsunami Relief Fund or to a charity of one's choice.
