MARY WONITOWY Peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2004, Mary Wonitowy passed away at St. Joseph's Residence at the age of 97 years. Mary was predeceased by her husband John; brothers, John and Peter; and children, Natalie and Melvin. She will be sadly missed by her surviving children, Peter (Margaret), Vladimir, Nadine (George) Froese and John; sister Anne Wawrykow; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Mary was born and raised in the Dauphin area. She married John on June 3, 1928 and they raised their family in Dauphin, Flin Flon and Winnipeg. She was involved with St. Nicholas U.C. Church, volunteering for many church functions and a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League. She was very proud of her heritage and loved to celebrate the Ukrainian Festival and reminisce with friends. She was very thoughtful, independent and active in organizing the thrift shop, bingo and dance lessons at the Senior Kennedy Complex for over 35 years. Mary had a keen sense of family and loved to show her extensive photograph collection to anyone who had time. She also enjoyed travelling to warmer climates with brother Peter and sister Anne. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Joseph's Residence for their care and compassion. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 5 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
