ANICE ELIZABETH SELLAR (nee ALLONBY) Anice Elizabeth Sellar died Monday, January 3, 2005 in the Palliative Care Unit of Riverview Health Centre, after an uneven battle with skin cancer, just past her 95th birthday. Born near Hawkshead, the Lake District, United Kingdom, she came to Canada as a two year old immigrant, with her mother, aboard the S.S. Canada. The family lived briefly in Eriksdale and then moved to Winnipeg where she spent virtually all the rest of her life. She was a proud graduate of both Greenway Public School and Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate Institute. Before marriage she worked at the Kraft Foods Counter in Eaton's but in 1937 she began her true career, wife to Shirley Sellar, her life long sweetheart. Together they raised a daughter, June and lived on Jessie Avenue for 58 years. Full time homemaker, Anice also made time for volunteer work; in recognition of over 50 years of service, she was made a life member of the Girl Guides of Manitoba. On Shirley's retirement they spent 20 winters at Desert Hot Springs. On his death five years ago, Anice moved to Fred Douglas Place. Wherever she was, Anice's greatest pleasure and strength came from the people around her. The human connection was always what sustained and delighted her. She will be remembered for this generosity of spirit from the Magic Waters Pool to the Fred Douglas Crib Group. Anice is predeceased by her parents, brother Harry and husband Shirley. Survived by daughter June, partner Mary Ann, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and special niece Arlene and her children. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to Riverview Palliative Care Unit or the Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund. Cremation, followed by a memorial service at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway on Wednesday, January 5 at 1:00 p.m. Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway - 783-7211
