SHERRI LYNN OLIVIER
Date of Passing: Dec 31, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHERRI LYNN OLIVIER Suddenly on December 31, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Sherri Olivier (nee Johannesson) loving wife, soul mate and best friend of David and devoted mother of five children, Justin, Todd, Cory, Steven, and Jenna. Lovingly remembered by her mother Minnie Johannesson and only sister Gail Davies (Stuart). Also remembered by brothers-in-law, Art Olivier (Doris), Bruce Olivier (Linda), Dennis Olivier (Connie), sisters-in-law, Elaine Buccini (Bob), Joyce Penner, Lois Olivier as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. Sherri was born in Winnipeg in 1956, grew up in the West End and attended school at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate where she met the love of her life David. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg and she and David were married shortly after. Sherri worked for several years at the Health Sciences Centre conducting research at the Department of Immunology. After five years of marriage, Sherri's first son Justin was born who was followed shortly after by Todd, Cory, and Steven. After four boys, Sherri's beautiful daughter Jenna arrived which completed her family. Sherri was an exceptionally bright light in both mind and spirit. Her interests included sports, gardening, baking, music, the outdoors, and her pets Pancake, Snowy, and Oliver. Sherri loved her cabin at Falcon Lake and the time she spent there with her family. She loved to golf and to travel with her family, particularly the trips where she could listen to the sounds of the ocean. She was a generous person who had a great community commitment which she demonstrated through her involvement with her children's hockey and soccer teams and the thousands of miles she drove every month. Sherri treated everyone with respect and dignity and welcomed everyone into her home and her life. She had an open heart and she found the beauty in all people. Sherri has been described as her family's compass that kept them grounded. Her husband and children will remember her for the love she gave them and the millions of wonderful memories that she has left them. The family knows that there are no goodbyes, rather just a wait until they meet again. We are forever grateful to God for the gift of knowing and loving Sherri and the privilege to be blessed with her presence in our lives. She was not only a wife, daughter, mother, and sister but the nicest person we've ever known. David and the family would like to thank all the people who helped Sherri particularly the staff of the emergency room at the Lake of the Woods and District General Hospital and the staff at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Funeral mass will take place at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford St. at Corydon Avenue, on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Masse S.J. presiding. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or flowers could be sent directly to the church.
