Left to mourn his passing are his wife Doreen (Weenie) of 59 and a half years; his children, Larry (Debbie), Lynne (Bob) Berg, Randy (Debbie), Rhonda (Brian) Nelson; grandchildren, Lisa (Bob), Shawn, Carly, Sayward, Michelle (Scott), Carla (Chris), Travis, Ashley, Terri and Bradley; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Owen, Evan, Matthew, and Tyler. Also brothers, Joe (Dorothy) of Kamloops, BC, Vincent (Violet) of Plumas, Fred (Barb) of Nanaimo, BC; and sisters, Margaret of Wisconsin, and Viola (Bill) of Plumas; sisters-in-law, Iris and Clara of Plumas, Mae of Enderby, BC, Laura Emisch of Kenora, Jean Scott of Gladstone; and brother-in-law Gerald Tomes and friend Freda of Carberry; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father; grandchild Lori; brothers, Richard, Gerald, John, George; sister Ruth Wilde and sister-in-law Florence Scott. Scott attended East Tupper school as a child and then fulfilled his dream to join the Air Force in 1945 as a mid upper gunner. After returning from overseas he married the love of his life Myrtle Doreen Tomes. Scott started farming in 1945, where he loved working the land and caring for his livestock until his retirement in 1981. In August of 2002 Scott and Doreen moved to Neepawa. Carpentry, painting, and building cairns were a few of his special talents, but there was nothing he would not tackle or find a way to fix. Scott had an active role in his children's lives with hockey, baseball, curling and anything else that involved his family. He was proud to be a lifetime member of the Legion No. 189 in Plumas, he served on numerous boards at the Plumas Knox United Church and was an active part in the construction of it. He also held offices for Game and Fish, Curling Club, Skating Rink, Farmers Union, and Seniors Centre. An evening was not complete at any Fischer function without a game of cards. His one love was to hunt and fish. The many trips with his grandchildren and friends to Kenora, Flin Flon, and Dryden, were the highlights of his life. Many amusing stories could be told about these trips. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to all of Dad's friends and to the Home Care workers who took extra special care of him during these past few years. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the Plumas Knox United Church with Rev. Peggy Reid officiating. Interment will follow in the Plumas Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Dad's memory to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8, or to The Plumas Knox United Church, Plumas, MB R0J 1P0. Peacefully sleeping, resting at last, His weary trials and troubles are past. In silence he suffered, In patience he bore, Till God called him home, To suffer no more. Clarke's Funeral Home - Gladstone in care of arrangements.
