GARY KARL GREENING March 15, 1942 - January 3, 2005 Peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2005 with his loving family at his side, Gary passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital. Gary will be lovingly remembered by Virginia, his best friend and wife of forty years; daughter Shelley; son Shawn (Donna); grandchildren, Christopher, Brendan, Sarah, Tyler and Linnea; sister Gloria Pearn (Joe); mother-in-law Grace Samuel; brother-in-law Ian Samuel (Beverley); nephew Jordan Pearn (Melanie); and nieces, Melissa Hoffer (Ian) and Pia Samuel. Gary retired in 1995 after 35 years of service at the CN Transcona Shops. One of his greatest joys was cycling around town with Virginia. He also enjoyed working in the garage, problem-solving with friends and family, and spending time gardening. Gary found great joy and pride watching his grandchildren grow up and was their number one fan at all their various activities. After suffering his first stroke in October, 2004, Gary was looking forward to returning home to continue his recovery when he suffered a second stroke on December 31, 2004 while at home for the New Year's weekend. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). A private family interment will be held at a later date at St. Vital Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Gary to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation (Rehabilitative Services or Palliative Care). To everything there is a season and a time.
