JUNE LORAYNE DENISON
Date of Passing: Jan 01, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUNE LORAYNE DENISON Suddenly on January 1, 2005 at the age of 78, June lost her life following a heart attack. Her daughter Diana and adored granddaughter Jazlee were fortunate to share June's last day with her. Over the last two years June enjoyed her independence in her Gimli apartment and looked forward to her daily walks no matter what the weather. In recent times, the cold air challenged her. Previously, June had been in Vancouver, BC for 22 years enjoying a life of gardening, golfing, and socializing with many wonderful friends. June was born in Winnipeg and spent her early life growing up in River Heights. She lost her mother Margaret when she was 17 and helped raise her only sibling Shirle Maruca (who died in 1997). Her father Lewis died in 1972. June was married to Doug Nothstein for 22 years until they separated. They had four children who will greatly miss their mother. Doug Jr. (Michele) of Leduc, AB; Brad (Yvonne) of Northern, BC; Neil (Elaine) of Prince George, BC and Diana Carry (Daryl) of Winnipeg Beach, MB. June will be missed by her special friend Norman Gorling (of Vancouver); nieces, nephews and so many wonderful grandchildren, mom used to lose count...June cherished her grandparents and even chose to live with them for a short time in her youth. That's why her grandchildren were so special to her. We were fortunate she got to know the youngest, Dayner and Jazlee so well over the last two years back in Manitoba. June's medical interest started with her employment at the Abbott Clinic. She then volunteered at the Children's Hospital and eventually was elected president of the board. When she re entered the work force, she was the director of volunteers at the Children's Hospital and later employed at the Health Sciences Centre daycare. June finished her career as the district manager of the Vancouver Red Cross. Mom always had a smile on her face and enjoyed a good laugh. Over the years she had a passion for writing her poems . The family would like to thank all the wonderful people and merchants of Gimli who gave June such personal attention. Thanks also to the Gimli Health Centre and Seven Oaks ICU staff. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate June's life. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler Ave. 668-3151
