BERTHA (BETTY) JULIENNE MARIE HUTTON (nee ST. GODARD) Peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2005, Betty passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. She will be fondly remembered by her stepson Jim (Shirley); her two grandchildren, Cathy and Lind and her great-grandson James, all in Florida. Her Winnipeg family consisted of a circle of caring nieces and nephews, several of whom generously contributed to her care in later years. She was predeceased by her husband Lynn; her parents, Malvina and Charles; and her seven sisters and her six brothers. Betty was born in St. Elizabeth, MB. She went to Winnipeg at the age of 16 to start work at the St. Boniface Hospital where she boarded with other young ladies of that time. Two years later, she struck out on her own working at various restaurants in the downtown area of the city. She married Lynn and moved to his home in Detroit, MI, where she continued to work. Betty always took pride in her performance at all her jobs. They were joined by Lynn's son Jim and wife Shirley, and so were able to enjoy their grandchildren Lind and Cathy nearby. Betty and Lynn bought a house trailer to travel during their retirement, and spent many years in Florida. Betty returned to Winnipeg after Lynn's death 1979, she had resided at the Chateau Gai apartments, where she welcomed visits from her family, who will often remember her good sense of humour, generosity, and phenomenal memory. Her recent declining years were made more pleasant by her nephew Gerry who ran almost daily errands for her, and her neighbour, Yolande, who helped her everyday. Thanks to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Geriatric E6 and to the We Care staff for all the kindness and care provided. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, January 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 E. at Navin Road. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens, Beverley Hills, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB, 1080 Portage Ave., R3G 3M3 or to a charity of choice. Memorial tributes may be sent to the family through www.passagesmb.com. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
