BERNARD STEVE BENEDIK Peacefully, on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Bernie completed this life's journey with his beloved son, Roy by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his son Roy, his father Steve (Carol-Mae), numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dedicated, supportive and loving friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Lauretta and his grandparents. An exceptional, kind man, he fought his long battle with cancer with courage and dignity. He will be remembered by Roy as a kind, gentle and loving father and by his father Steve, as a much loved, dedicated son. Bernie was born in Saltcoats, SK, on July 31, 1940 to Lauretta (Schultz) and Steve Benedik, their only child. In his adult years, he moved to Winnipeg where he pursued a career in computer operations. He enjoyed may years in his field; most recently at Gendis and subsequently with Alliance Credit Union. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life - breakfasts with his friends in Anola, summer golfing, bowling, winters of curling and special times spent with his friends, son and father. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 11 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the people that were closest to him in the final years; Bill and Wendy, Evelyn, and the Breakfast Club at Anola Village Restaurant, and to Dr. Wong, Dr. Danyk and all the staff at CancerCare Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4A6. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
