FLORENCE MABEL CLINCH (nee RACHER) Florence Mabel Clinch (nee Racher) passed away on January 3, 2005, at Misericordia Health Centre at the age of 87 years. Mabel was born on September 18, 1917, at Elgin, MB to Joseph and Eliza Florence Racher. She attended Elgin Consolidated School until Grade 11 and was then one of the first group of students to take Grade 12 when the high school became known as Elgin Collegiate. After graduating from Grade 12, she began to take a business course by correspondence and later attended Dominion Business College in Winnipeg. In 1939 she began working at Macleod's Limited as an office clerk and rose through the ranks to become secretary to the President. It was there that she met her husband Gordon. They were married June 26, 1948 and spent almost 54 years together before he passed away in March 2002. Gordon and Mabel enjoyed many trips together, visiting such places as Jamaica, Spain, Portugal, the British Isles, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii as well as most of Canada and the United States. They also went on several cruises. Mabel also enjoyed 5 pin bowling and for many years belonged to the Deer Lodge Ladies League. Playing bridge was another of her favourite pastimes. Besides her beloved husband, Gordon, Mabel was predeceased by her mother and father, brothers Joseph Leslie (in infancy), Gordon, Edward and Stan and her only sister Phyllis Hayes. She was also predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law Lloyd and Christine Clinch; her sisters-in-law, Orla Racher and Agnes Racher; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Merle and Bill Stevens; and her brother-in-law Jack Hayes. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Racher of Elgin and Joyce (Jerry) Wren of Calgary; as well as by many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Mabel's memory to a charity of their choice.
