Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANZ JANZEN September 19, 1919 - January 6, 2005 With deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather on January 6, 2005 at the age of 85 years. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and relatives and his friends, here and in Germany. He leaves to mourn his daughter Ann (Orest) Kisser; grandchildren, Teresa (Todd) Breen and Darrell Kisser; great-grandchildren, Dane and Alexia Breen; three sisters, Anna (Georg) Niedenz of Germany, Martha Janzen and Betty (Les) Pickett of Vancouver. Franz was born in the Ukraine. He married his childhood friend Helen Pankratz, and a year later moved to Feldkirch, Germany, where their daughter Anna was born. In 1944, he was drafted into the army. He became a prisoner of war the following year, and was sent to Siberia, where he worked in a coal mine. It was 10 years before he was able to locate his wife and child in Canada. In 1976, they were finally reunited, after being separated for 32 years. During this time, it was his strong faith in the Lord that kept him going. They spent many wonderful years together, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 1993. He and his wife were actively involved in their Church, which was his greatest love. His wife became ill and he had to place her in Donwood Manor Personal Care Home in March 2000. Shortly after, Franz moved to the seniors hi-rise adjoining the home. He lovingly cared for his wife, until her death in November 2001. In the past few years, he spent most of his time socializing and helping his many friends in the senior complex. He was always friendly, and very helpful to everyone. The family wishes to thank the staff at Donwood Manor, as well as Franz's many friends, who supported us through his sudden death. Funeral service will be held at Klassen Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 11, with visitation one half hour prior to service. Interment will be in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Should friends desire, donations may be made to Donwood Manor, 171 Donwood Dr., Winnipeg, MB R2G 0V9. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331
