PELAGIA CARDENAS CRUZ -

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPELAGIA CARDENAS CRUZ 1914 - 2005 Peacefully on January 6, 2005, with family at her side Pelagia C. Cruz, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 90. Pelagia joins her predeceased husband Juan T. Cruz and only son Francisco Cruz. She will be sadly missed and always be remembered by her surviving daughters, Cecilia and husband Armando Catigay, Isabel Galaran in the Philippines, Angelita and husband Ruben Timbreza. Special mention of Dr. Cesar A. Cardenas her nephew from Iowa; her only surviving sibling residing in New York, Mr. Porferio Cardenas; and many more relatives in United States. Here in Canada are her nieces who also were of great console, Leticia Taferner and son Edward with Esther Gabriel and husband Jimmy and sons Angelo and Michael. Pelagia came to Canada in 1982, sponsored by her only son (predeceased) Francisco Cruz and surviving former wife Amalia Zapata with their two sons Francis Michael and Paulo Theodoro Cruz. From then Pelagia has been a loving grandmother of Christopher and wife Anita Catigay, Maria Cristina and husband Omar Anis, John Vincent and wife Carla Catigay, Peter Catigay, Rowisa Landicho and husband, Rose-Anne, Elizabeth and Romeo Jr., Jamie Anne, Christine and Reuven Angelo Timbreza; great-grandchildren, Joshua Christopher and Matthew James Catigay, Alexander Christopher, Edward Scott, and Alora Camille Anis, Sierra Camille Catigay, Jalen and James Cruz, Karen Landicho, Dana Dimatulac; and the many close family friends who greets Pelagia as Inay or Nanay, who she definitely was to all a mother figure in every sense. Our gratitude and thanks to the several hospitals which provided care, especially to the doctors and nurses of GD4 Ward at the Health Sciences Centre, whom in Pelagia's last days were comforting to her and our family. Lamay will be held on Saturday, January 8 and Sunday, January 9 from 6:00 p.m. till 12:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Parish with interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Pelagia may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
