Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREW (ANDY) HERRON MILLAR, JR. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Andrew Millar on December 23, 2004, in Toronto, in his 95th year. He is survived by his beloved wife Evelyn (Evenson); daughters, Marilyn and Brenda (Carl Blanchaer); grandchildren, Maxwell, Rainer and Wallis Millar-Blanchaer; brother John (Thunder Bay); sisters-in-law, Irene (Winnipeg) and Patricia (Vancouver); brother-in-law Lloyd Evenson (Dorothy) in Toronto; and many nieces and nephews across the country. Cremation was followed by a family celebration of his life in Toronto on January 1, 2005. Andy was born in Winnipeg, the eldest son of five boys (daughter deceased) to Ann and Andrew Millar, Sr. From steamfitter to mechanical contractor, his career in the environmental controls industry spanned over forty years. Highlights included partnership in the steamfitting company Walsh and Charles concluding with the position of western branch manager for Powers Controls Canada. Upon retirement in 1970, Andy was an active member in the United Association (UA) of the plumbing and pipefitting industry Local 254, chairing union/management committees for the Health and Welfare Trust Fund. This was work in which Andy took great pride and interest until his second retirement at 83. Andy and Evelyn were proud residents of St. James for over 50 years, where Andy worked and raised his family. When not vacationing at the family cottage in Matlock, travel to warmer climates was enjoyed by the couple. In later years, March breaks in Victoria, BC was Andy's idea of heaven on earth. Andy and Evelyn moved to Toronto in 2001 to join their daughters and families. The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in September 2004. Andy's natural curiosity for ideas and love of learning guided him through life. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and colleagues.
