EDWIN SLATER Peacefully on January 8, 2005, at the Health Sciences Centre, with family at his side, Edwin Slater, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 79. Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife Dorothy; and their children, Charlotte, Garry (Kelly); Garry, Lindsay (Jennifer, Grant and Sara); David, Lynn (Chantelle, David) and great-grandson Matthew; Dale, Chris (Jesse); Phyllis, Phil (Drew, Trevor); mother-in-law Lillian McKay; as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and all of his siblings, George, Robert, Chrissy, Charlie, Elsie and Frank. Ed was born July 9, 1925, in Teulon where he resided his entire life. In November 1953 he married Dorothy (nee Lockhart) and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. Dad found employment in various areas with lengthy employment at Ellison's Cartage and retired from the Department of Highways after 26 years of service. Dad lived a full and rewarding life, running his hobby farm and teaching his children the values of family life. He was a kind and generous man loved by all. He treated everyone with respect and dignity and welcomed everyone into his home and his life. Even though the last few years of his life were challenging, he always had a positive attitude and never complained. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12 at MacKenzie Funeral Home in Teulon. At Dad's request, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will follow the service. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital and the SICU at the Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
