CONSTANCE GABEL August 14, 1932 - January 9, 2005 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Connie Gabel. Connie ended her struggle on January 9, 2005, at East Gate Lodge at the age of 72. Connie was born on her mother's birthday and was raised in Ladywood, MB. Connie was an executive secretary at Westinghouse Canada and had celebrated 30 years of service in 1984. In addition to her career, in 1981 she began a reflexology practice. In 1988 Connie suffered an aneurysm which tragically had done irreparable damage. In 1990 Connie was moved to East Gate Lodge which became her home until her passing. Connie's memory will be cherished by her sister Grace's children, Debby and Ernie Hlady and their children, Kirstyn and Kyle, Bob and Jocelyn Novakowski and their children, Dylan and Dallas (Regina) and Randy and Roxanne Novakowski and their daughter Chelsey. She was predeceased by her father Henry Gabel in 1975; her mother Mary Gabel on January 13, 1990; her sister Grace in 1999; and her brother-in-law Ernie Novakowski in 1994. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 13 at Russell Funeral Chapel, 437 Park Ave. in Beausejour, MB. Cremation has taken place with a private interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to East Gate Lodge. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at East Gate Lodge, especially the Shamrock Unit who provided unfailing care and kindness throughout the years. You are truly very special people.
