STEVEN ADAMCHUK Peacefully on January 9, 2005 at Riverview Health Centre. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Olive; son, Gary (Florence), children, Dylan, Garett and Jordan; daughter, Sharon Johnston (Scott), children, Michael (Crystal), Kim Johnston-Rempel (Justin), Kelly Phillips (Andrew); daughter Debbie (Tony Karpinsky); his sister, Dallas Pasaluko (William) and their family; his Uncle Steve Kowalchuk; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in law. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Paul. Dad was born November 30, 1919 in Stead, MB to Michael and Alexandra. On October 19, 1940, he married the love of his life, Olive Lyzun. Mom and Dad lived in Stead until 1945 when they moved to Winnipeg. Dad worked at several businesses of his own. He settled at Acklands as a welding supply salesman for 37 years until his retirement in 1985. Dad loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He was Mr. Fix-it and spent countless hours in his garage. He had an endless network of connections, if you needed a part for something or someone to fix something, he could help. He had a great love of music and was a self-taught musician. His favourite instruments were the banjo, violin and saxophone. The farm was always his special place and he preserved his little corner of heaven where he visited and worked as often as he could. Dad loved his family. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He was never happier than sitting around the table with any of us visiting, eating and laughing. He lived his life to the fullest until cancer restricted his activities. We like to think he's playing the banjo in heaven's band. The family would like to thank Dr. Aldor, Dr. Homik, the Emergency Team at Health Sciences Centre and the staff at Riverview. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael, Justin, Andrew, Dylan, Garett and Jordan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
