ELSIE HELEN MATTERN (nee ROHS) Passed away quietly on January 10, 2005, at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home at St. Rose, MB, at the age of 86 years. Elsie was born to Johann and Marie Rohs (nee Mattern) on September 4, 1918, in the District of Camper, MB. She married Paul Mattern in 1947 and together they farmed in the Dog Lake area for many years. They had three children. Elsie moved to Ashern in 1992 where she resided for her remaining years. Surviving Elsie are her daughter Gladys and son-in-law Ron Medwid; her three grandchildren, Amanda, Stacey and Mark Medwid; one sister Minnie Rohs of Camper; sister-in-law Helen Rohs of Ashern, MB; and one brother Harry Rohs and his wife Florence of Stonewall, MB. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Paul (1980); and two sons, Harold and Larry. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 14 at the Ashern Gospel Church with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow in the Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rudy Rohs, Grant Schwitek, Syl Medwid, Dennis Medwid, Ken Medwid and Arnie Richter.
