Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROCK PATRICK MALLOY We sadly announce the peaceful passing of Rock Patrick Malloy, surrounded by family, January 10, 2005, at Seven Oaks Hospital. Rock was predeceased by son Rocky Jr. in 1990, son-in-law Claude in 1986, and sister Margaret. Rocky was born on August 1, 1920, in Ottawa, ON. He graduated from the Ottawa High School of Commerce and then entered the R.C.M.P. on January 5, 1939, serving 25 years. Memorable assignments included VIP security for Harry S. Truman, Winston Churchill, and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Rock met his future wife Grace in the spring of 1944 in Ottawa, and they married on September 5, 1946, in Belleville, MI, Grace's home town. They resided in Ottawa and Aylmer, QC, until transferred to Winnipeg in 1957, with five children in tow. Rock Jr. (Judy), Elaine (Bob), Shelley (Craig), David (Winni), and Mark (Karen). Two more boys, Jim (Jennie) and Chris (Lynda) were later born in Winnipeg. After retiring from the R.C.M.P. as a Staff Sergeant in charge of D Division Highway Patrol in June 1964 with exemplary service conduct, Rock went on to his second career with the Manitoba Government Department of Highways, completing 22 years and retiring in 1985. Our Dad enjoyed sports of all description, especially CFL football, and could still throw a tight spiral at 84 years of age. Late in life he took up Scrabble and soon became the family champ. Crosswords were another challenge that Dad enjoyed. Without a doubt Rocky's greatest joy was his beloved Grace, their large family, including his seven children and 16 grandchildren, Justin (Chass), Claudine (Earl), Nicole, Brandy, Jason, Jenni (Darrald), Tyler, Ashley, Sarah, Dionne, Raquel, Jesse, Myles, Jonathan, Kelly, and Erin. He also was blessed with four great-grandsons, Dylan, Logan, Graham, and Kaden. To say that he will be deeply missed is an understatement. We thank him for sharing his life with us. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A private interment will follow at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
