DOREEN BRENDA TRAVERSE (nee LETANDRE) May 3, 1962 - January 9, 2005 With her loving family by her side, it is with deep sorrow that they announce the untimely but peaceful passing of Doreen Traverse to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, January 9, 2005 at St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 42 years. Doreen will be sadly missed by her loving children, Candace Traverse (Shayne) and her precious granddaughter Shaney; her young daughters, Nikita and Reba; her sons, Edward and Dwight; her special friend Hilliard Friday; her parents, Ken and Elma Letandre; her sisters, Irene Letandre (Eugene), Karen Letandre (John) of Fairford, MB, Colinda (Brian) Ross of Lake St. Martin, Alison (Noel) Houle of Waterhen, Pam (Joe) Bourassa of Grand Rapids, MB; her brothers, Ted (Darlene) Woodhouse of Fairford, Kenny (Anita) Lentandre of Ashern, Edward and Murray of Fairford; her special cousins whom she considered her own sisters, Mary and Beatrice Ermine of Price Albert, SK; her mother-in-law Flora Traverse; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Walter) Anderson, Rosemary (Robert) Forbes, Linda (Clements) Prince, Lillian (Chief Peter) Ross and Elizabeth Traverse; brothers-in-law, Elmer (Sylvia) Traverse, Gordon (Betty) Traverse, Norman (Winnie) Traverse, John Traverse; and many nephews, nieces, aunties, uncles and all who knew her, too numerous to mention. Doreen was predeceased by her infant son Glen James, her husband Glen Traverse, her brother Larry Letandre, father-in-law David Traverse, brother-in-law George Traverse and sister-in-law Yvonne Traverse. Doreen was born and raised in Fairford. She met and married her husband Glen and both lived in Lake St. Martin. She later moved on to live in Winnipeg, MB, where she remained until her passing. Doreen was a Christian and loved attending the Springs Church in Winnipeg. She loved gospel music and this is all you would hear at her place when you'd visit her. Her prayers were always for her five children that God would bless and keep them. She would constantly write this prayer in her journals. Doreen's entire life was about being very involved with her family and she always thrived on the loving devotion and respect of her family and friends. Doreen taught her family and children by example to always do the right thing with generosity and kindness and above all love. He home was always open for her family whenever they came to the city. Many thanks to the doctors and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, MICU at St. Boniface Hospital, 2nd Floor, Council of Pinaymootang First Nation, Mr. Ralph (Lorrie) Sanderson and Mr. Ed Anderson, Assistant Pastor Jeff Romas of Springs Church, Winnipeg, Mrs. Grace Woodhouse and Isabel Marsden for being there at the time of need and special friend Victoria Maytwayashing. Also a very special thank you to our uncle Garnet Woodhouse and auntie Lorette Woodhouse for all their love and support. This will always be cherished forever. Dear Sweet Doreen, We Miss You and Love You, Your Strength and Love will always be remembered and cherished, You are now at Peace, Your battle is over, You are now at rest in Heaven, And free from pain, You will be sadly missed here, But we will be brave and keep you in our hearts forever. We love you! Wake service will be held on Thursday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14 at 12:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Fairford House of Prayer, Fairford, with Pastor Wilfred Bruce and Jim Anderson officiating.
