ANN STELLING On Monday, January 10, 2005, Ann Stelling (nee Dykun), widow of Johannes (John), passed away peacefully at Fred Douglas Lodge. She leaves to mourn her children, James (Cecile) of Cache Creek, BC, Kenneth (Millie) of Portage la Prairie, and Donald (Sandy) of Winnipeg, as well as her grandchildren Adrian Poulin and Kimberly (Cazzie) Martin of BC and Kristen (Neil) Fogg of Winnipeg. Ann is also survived by her sister Mary Nimetz of Regina as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Irene, and brothers Nick, Bill and Mike. She will be sadly missed by her many spiritual brothers and sisters in Brandon, Portage and Winnipeg. Ann was born in 1911 near Vita, MB and grew up near Arran, SK. In 1931 she married John and they farmed in different areas of southern Manitoba, finally settling near Margaret, MB. Ann's happiest days were spent as a farm wife and mother. In 1972 John's failing health necessitated a move to Brandon and some years after his passing in 1975, Ann moved to Portage la Prairie. There the care of Ken and Millie enabled her to live in her own home until the age of 89. In June 2000 her health required a move to Winnipeg where she resided in Arlington Haus and more recently in Fred Douglas Lodge. In her teenage years Ann developed a real love for the Bible and she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1939 and served faithfully for the rest of her life. Her greatest joy was sharing the wonderful hope of the Bible with others (Rev. 21:3,4). For the last years of her life she was a member of the Inkster Gardens Congregation where she was Grandma to everyone. Ann's life was characterized by a strong work ethic and a deep love for God. She had confidence in the resurrection hope as set out in John 5:28,29. The family would like to thank the staff on the Oak unit of Fred Douglas Lodge (Richard, Maria, Jeanne, Ruth, Maria, Tita, Darlene, Linda and the many others) who made the last two and a half years as pleasant and caring as possible for her. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Inkster Gardens Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall at 1877 Inkster Blvd, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15th with Dave Lenych officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends desire donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of their choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
