Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT AB TRAGER With great sorrow the family announces the passing of Ab Trager our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle on January 12, 2005. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years Janet; sons, Gary (Heather), Doug (May), Wayne, Randy and daughter Lori; grandchildren, Derek, Lee, Alex, Michael and Lisa. He is also survived by brothers, Frank (Shirley), Brian (Suzanne) and sisters, Catharine, Janet (Richard); sisters-in-law, Iris and Melesse. His parents, Anton and Caroline; brothers, Ernie, Robert and sister Eleanor predeceased dad. Dad was born in Winnipeg on December 9, 1923 and raised in Fort Rouge where he attended Kelvin High School. Dad was enlisted in the Canadian Navy during The Second World War and served on the ship St. Thomas. Ab met Janet in the spring of 1946 and married June 4, 1949. They settled in Transcona where Dad spent his remaining adult life while raising five children. Dad was very involved in hockey and baseball primarily with the Pirates C.C. as well as their president for many years. Dad's other interest was the cottage he owned in Lake Brereton in which he also spent his childhood with his family. Ab and Janet were lucky enough to spend time in Hawaii for over 20 years where they loved to vacation. Dad spent the past four years in Beacon Hill Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff on the 4th floor with a special thanks to Linda. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 17, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home. Service will conclude in the chapel. If desired, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R2C 4G2, in his memory.
