Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMABEL SUSAN DUGUID (nee STAPLETON) Peacefully, in her sleep, at Poseidon Care Centre, on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, Mabel Susan Duguid passed away one month shy of her 95th birthday. Mabel was born in Glenwood, MB on February 11, 1910 to Martha (Shields) and William Stapleton, the fifth of twelve children. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Elaine (David) Klym; son Ken (Adele) Duguid; grandchildren, Karen (Roger) Suss, Glen (Dara) Klym, Rob (Paula) Duguid, Bryan (Sheila) Duguid, Paul (Romola) Dugsin; great-grandchildren, Brianne, Garrett, Hannah and Avril Suss, Morgan and Cole Klym, Joel, Matthew and Evan Duguid, Aislinn and Kaeleigh Duguid, Joshua, Sabrynn and Cassara Dugsin; sisters, Edna, Ruth, Mildred, Irene; and sisters-in-law, Olive and Irene. Mabel was predeceased by her husband, father, mother; brothers, Earl, Gordon, Orville; and sisters, Olive, Florence Marguerette and Jean. She grew up in Moore Park, MB, attended grade school and began work as a domestic at an early age. In 1936, she married Bob Duguid and moved to Winnipeg. While he was busy working on the railroad, she raised their family and was caretaker for various apartment blocks in the West End. She enjoyed outings to the Legion, playing cards, visiting with her brothers and sisters and needlework. Following Bob's death in 1962, she was employed as a homemaker with Family Services until her retirement in 1979. During those years she assisted many families. She enjoyed memorable vacations to the West Coast and to the United Kingdom with her siblings. With failing health, she became a resident of the Poseidon Care Centre in 1991, where she resided until her passing. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Central Park Lodge (Poseidon Care Centre) of Winnipeg for their excellent care of Mom (Mabel) these past fourteen years. A celebration of Mabel's life will be held on Saturday, January 15 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with viewing prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Rob, Bryan, Paul, Glen, Roger and Ron. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Mabel's memory to End of Life Program, Poseidon Care Centre, 70 Poseidon Bay, Winnipeg, MB R3M 3E5.
